“Taff” completes coast to coast trek

Keen walker Malcolm -‘“Taff”’- Davies has successfully completed an epic trek around Wales and Offas Dyke, covering more than 1000 miles for charity.

Malcolm set off on his challenge in May, clocking 1020 miles in two months and raising almost £3000 for the Wales Air Ambulance.

The sojourn was relatively problem free, apart from being cut off by the tide three times and having to cope with a giant blister throughout the walk.

Malcolm said “I mostly camped out in the wild, apart from my trip to the Tywyn area where two Wales Air Ambulance volunteers, Roy and Karen, kindly provided some much-needed shelter for me.

“The whole experience has been absolutely incredible and I’ve met some wonderful people”.

During the trip Malcolm visited three Wales Air Ambulance bases in Caernarfon, Cardiff and Dafen, where he was able to meet the crew and see the lifesaving helicopters he was fundraising for.

Fundraising manager Mark Stevens greeted Malcolm when he arrived in Dafen: “We were completely blown away by Malcolm’s commitment to walk so far and wide. Every step he took and every mile covered has helped to keep our four helicopters in the air for everybody in Wales.

“The beautiful coast and countryside Malcolm has traversed during his challenge must have made for an epic adventure. We hope he can get some well-earned rest after such a fantastic achievement.”

Malcolm added: “I’m taking a bit of a break for a while and spending time with my mother in Carmarthen, which I’m looking forward to. Then I hope to get back on track to continue raising funds for Wales Air Ambulance.”
