Trail Running Festival Unveils Charity Race Shirt

The Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival has unveiled the shirts which will be sported by finishers of the race, held in aid of Wales Air Ambulance.

A brand-new luminous orange finishers T-shirt has been revealed as Wales Air Ambulance announce they are coming on board as official charity partner to the Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival and their logo will appear on the race t-shirt.

More than 800 runners will take-in the stunning Welsh countryside on May 21st on a series of challenging but scenic races, starting at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells - and they will not be missed once they have completed the half marathon and 10K courses.

The orange finishers T-shirt will bring an extra splash of colour to the Royal Welsh Spring Festival and remind runners to stay visible when out running the stunning Welsh trails. Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £6.5 million every year to run its operations, with each of its lifesaving missions costing around £1,500.

Mark Stevens, Wales Air Ambulance Fundraising Manager, said: “In Wales, we have a diverse and challenging landscape, many in Wales live in isolated locations, far from a major or specialist hospital.

“The difficult terrain can make this area hard to access by road, so Wales Air Ambulance works closely with Brecon Mountain Rescue to bring the A&E department to the roadside. The off-road terrain nature of the race, highlights how WAA can help people in their hour of need – even if they are in a remote, rural area.

“We are grateful to be named as the lead charity for the Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival, as the donations raise will help to fund our missions across Wales.”

The Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival is suitable for anyone, with a 10k and half marathon course for accomplished trail runners, as well as a 3k family race and Toddler Trail Challenge for younger participants.

The main race will take the runners in a climb to Drws Yr Coed House, looping through woodland, fields and trail paths, with stunning views of the Royal Welsh Showground. Entries are selling fast, so head over to http://www.rwtrailrunningfestival.co.uk/ if you want to be a part of what promises to be an unforgettable day.

Mark added: “Every year, Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £6.5 million to keep our four helicopters flying. Since we launched in 2001, we have completed more than 26,000, all funded through kind donations and support. It is races like the Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival which allow us to come to the aid of people across Wales.”
