‘Children’s Air Ambulance’ and ‘The Air Ambulance Service’ enquiries

UPDATE: 10/10/2018

Wales Air Ambulance is the official air ambulance service for Wales. We’re on standby every single day of the year, ready to help anyone in Wales during their most difficult hour. An important part of our job is to run the Children’s Wales Air Ambulance. This is a specialist division of the charity because our youngest patients need a different range of treatments.

We’ve recently received enquiries from members of the public about another children’s air ambulance service from England, which has been door-to-door fundraising, posting donation letters, placing charity snack boxes across the country and distributing collection bags to homes in Wales.

The service is a legitimate charity operated by the Derbyshire and Warwickshire air ambulance which also uses the names, ‘Children’s Air Ambulance’ and ‘The Air Ambulance Service’.

We want to clarify to all our supporters that Wales Air Ambulance and our paediatric operation here in Wales is in no way connected to this charity.

All our materials are bilingual and clearly branded Wales Air Ambulance in red and green.

All our materials will include our unique registered charity number - 1083645.

We have not sent donation letters through the post.

We have not posted charity bags through letter boxes.

Wales Air Ambulance Lottery

Our lottery canvassers work on our behalf via a third party organisation. They work at supermarkets, healthcare facilities, retail parks, town and city centres, and door-to-door. The canvassers are identifiable through their red polo shirts and/or jackets with the following logo.

They will also carry the following ID badge:

We’re proud to be the only air ambulance charity based in and dedicated to Wales. Our helicopters in Caernarfon, Welshpool, Llanelli and Cardiff airlifted 397 children last year on emergency 999 calls or important inter-hospital transfers. Our paediatric patients range from premature babies to seriously ill teenagers. We work closely with NHS Wales to treat and transfer patients.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call us on 0300 0152 999 or email fundraising@walesairambulance.com.

Thank you.

What an amazing service. We were totally unaware of this dedicated service until one of your helicopters landed a couple of fields away this evening. We are about ten miles away from Welshpool and are hoping the reason your helicopter landed had a happy ending.

I personally would feel cheated if I have given to those collecting in Wales and find that it is going to aid those in Derbyshire etc. Surely this is a form of miss-selling or at the least misleading.
